This summer, I had the opportunity to capture the wedding of Krys and Aspen on a rainy day at Semiahmoo Cannery Lodge. When Aspen reached out to me, I was immediately excited, my own wedding, 11 years earlier had ALSO been held at Semiahmoo, so I was completely aware of the beauty and simplicity of this Whatcom County location.

This wedding was more than a family affair, it was a community event. Best friends arrived in droves from all over the state. The officiant baked the cake and ran the show. DnD party members set up and gave loving speeches. Sisters and uncles told stories, and everyone laughed, cried and celebrated under a variety of provided umbrellas.

Ironic or not, rain on their wedding day did not bother Aspen and Kris. These two embraced the unpredictable weather of the Pacific Northwest and smiled all of the way through. If we can learn one thing from these two, its to “roll with it”.

So don’t let rain on your wedding day be a challenge. Channel Kris and Aspen, and their friendmly, a group of deeply loving, and loved, individuals who came together to turn a damp day into one to remember.
